Information Technology

Our programs are for leveling up.

Let’s face it. You probably already know a lot about computers, networks and technology. If you are like other students who choose SUNY Morrisville for its information technology programs, you have that classic hacker spirit and you’re looking to do even more with computers.

You might have built your own computer before you were even in high school. You might have mastered every game you ever tackled and decided to create your own. You might have developed software applications. You might even have started a business or two through your tech-savvy.

If that is the case, we bet we can still teach you a lot of new tricks. And we know we can connect you with internships and other experiences that will turn your skillset into a full-blown career.

If you haven’t done these things yet, SUNY Morrisville is the perfect place to make this happen.

There is a lot you can do on your own, but imagine how much further you can go with professors who will work closely with you on real-world projects every day in every class. And while we’re working hard, we also have fun with gaming and participating in events like the Global Game Jam, taking creative and innovative ideas and turning them into functional games on a worldwide scale in less than 48 hours.

Sounds great, right?

We don’t do theoretical and call it good. We’re here to dive right into the bits and bytes, cables and racks, software and hardware to design and build technical solutions.

Come to SUNY Morrisville and we’ll remove the limits of the physical world. With technology like virtual reality (VR), eye trackers and a networking lab, you’ll test and fine-tune ideas and machines that will change the way organizations do business and communicate.

Whether you dream of being a feisty startup, transforming an existing organization or joining the ranks of Silicon Valley, we can mentor and connect you to that career.

Information Technology at SUNY Morrisville

SUNY Morrisville offers a variety of information technology programs, all of which are designed to prepare graduates to become technicians and managers in enterprise networking and system environments. And no matter which program you choose, your coursework will involve the latest software and tools to keep you learning the latest technologies.

Through its membership in the Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching, the SUNY Morrisville Computer Information Technology (CIT) Department provides you with Microsoft platform, servers and developer tools software such as Visual Studio, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio and versions of Windows server. You not only get to use this software during your studies, but you also can keep it upon completion of the program.

Our CIT Department also maintains an alliance with VMware, providing you with the software needed to run virtual operating system environments on your machines.

Our hands-on approach to learning in each program culminates in a semester-long, 12-credit professional internship, where you put in nearly 500 hours of work in an industry setting to gain the professional experience necessary to launch your career. There is also the potential of landing a full-time position with the organization sponsoring your internship, as has been the case for many of our graduates.
