Congratulations to all of this year’s SUNY Morrisville graduates!
Commencement celebrations for 2021 include a virtual event open to all, as well as optional in-person ceremonies to celebrate graduates by individual department or division.
The SUNY Morrisville 2021 Commencement will be held virtually on Saturday, May 22. SUNY Morrisville is proud of all of our 2021 graduates and we are making every effort to provide a memorable commencement that celebrates this monumental achievement, while continuing to prioritize the health and safety of our campus community.
To celebrate all that you have accomplished as a Mustang, we have partnered with StageClip, a company specializing in virtual ceremonies, to allow the Class of 2021 to customize the ceremony!
Through our partnership with StageClip, graduating students can contribute personalized messages, photos and videos to customize the ceremony. See how it works through this StageClip video.
You will be recognized as a Class of 2021 graduate by:
1. PERSONAL INVITATION – On April 15, you should have received an email to your SUNY Morrisville email address with the subject line “Invitation - Participate in your celebration ceremony!” that includes a link to upload a photo, personal message and/or 10-second video. Your personal messages will be included in the ceremony for all to see. Hurry, the submission deadline is May 7!
2. VIRTUAL CEREMONY (Saturday, May 22, 1 p.m.) – We’ll use your custom content and put you in the graduation procession with your fellow classmates. On the big day, invite your friends and family to join!
3. ALUMNI GIFT – You’ll also receive your personal StageClip – an individual recognition video clip which celebrates your achievement. Share it proudly!
We want you to look forward with confidence, look forward to graduating and look forward to your future! We’re delighted to welcome you to participate in the virtual SUNY Morrisville 2021 Commencement. Congratulations, graduates!
Academic Celebration Ceremonies
In addition to virtual Commencement, we will host in-person Academic Celebration Ceremonies on Friday, May 7, Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15. These small ceremonies will celebrate an individual department or division and enable students and faculty to gather in person in the STUAC Little Theater to celebrate this graduation milestone. Proper physical distancing and face coverings will be required and enforced at these events.
Any students, faculty or staff who wish to participate will be required to sign up in advance. Unfortunately at this time, no off-campus guests will be able to attend. However, all ceremonies will be livestreamed to allow the special moment to be shared and enjoyed by family and friends. Students have the option to order a cap and gown to wear for the ceremony and photo opportunities will also be available. If students choose not to order a cap and gown, formal attire is expected for the event.
The online signup forms are available in the event webpages listed in the Schedule of Events below.

I’m a student at the Norwich Campus. When and where is my event?
All Norwich Campus students are invited to participate in a drive-thru academic celebration ceremony on the Norwich Campus on Thursday, May 20 at 5:30 p.m. You will receive further information via email about what time you should arrive, the traffic pattern and other instructions.
If I can’t make it to my ceremony, can I attend another?
If you wish to participate but cannot make the time of your ceremony, accommodations can be made for you to attend another ceremony. You may only attend one ceremony total. If you attend a ceremony different than your academic program, you should expect that much of the program will not relate to your academic major.
How do I purchase a cap and gown? What if I don’t want to purchase a cap and gown?
You can purchase a cap and gown from the Campus Store website. You can purchase online and pick-up in store or have your materials shipped. You can purchase in-person at the bookstore and pick-up at the same time. Sizes are limited so do not delay. If you choose not to purchase a cap and gown, you should wear formal attire to the ceremony.

I’m a fully remote student but am coming to campus for my ceremony. Can I stay overnight?
Our current visitor policy prohibits guests from staying in the residence halls. If you come to campus for your ceremony, you will not be allowed to stay overnight and will need to either return home after your ceremony or find accommodations off campus.
What COVID-19 protocols are in place to ensure that all ceremonies are safe?
All ceremony attendees are members of our campus community and participate in mandatory COVID-19 testing each Tuesday on campus. All members of our campus community must fill out a daily health screening to ensure they are not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. All participants are required to wear a face covering over their mouth and nose and maintain physical distancing. Capacity in the Little Theater is limited to 33% of capacity and spaces are clearly noted to enable all participants to physically distance during the ceremony.
