EOP Summer Academy FAQ

What is EOP?

The State University of New York's Educational Opportunity Program provides access, academic support and financial aid to students who demonstrate the potential for college success but would otherwise be excluded from higher education due to circumstances of academic under preparation and economic disadvantage. Available primarily to full-time, matriculated students, the program supports students throughout their college careers.

When does the summer program begin? End?

The dates for the summer program vary. However, the program typically begins in July and ends on the first Saturday of August. Students are required to check in at the start of the program. Check our webpage for specific start dates.   

Do I have to participate in the EOP Summer Academy?

All admitted EOP first-year students are required to successfully complete the Summer Academy before being enrolled for the fall semester. The Summer Academy prepares students to successfully make the difficult transition from high school to college and beyond. 

What should I do if I have a conflict with the EOP Summer Academy dates?

Students should contact the EOP Office immediately. The program is mandatory for all EOP first-year students.

How much does the EOP Summer Academy program cost?

The Summer Academy is free for all students and includes all academic materials, housing, meals and scheduled weekend activities. Students should only bring money for their personal needs and the weekend extracurricular activities.

Do I have to stay on campus for the program?

Yes, this is a residential program and students will be housed and provided meals. All associated campus COVID protocols must be strictly adhered to.

Can I bring my own vehicle?

Yes. Students will need to contact the EOP Office to make arrangements for a parking pass.

Is there a curfew?

Yes. Students are required to be in their designated residence hall by 10 p.m. and in their assigned rooms by 11 p.m.

Can I leave on a weekend or weekday and be back before curfew?

Students are not allowed to leave the campus without the director’s permission.

Are there laundry facilities?

The residence hall is equipped with laundry facilities for student use.
