Measles, Mumps and Rubella

In accordance with NYS Law, any student born after January 1, 1957, must provide proof of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella. Failure to provide proper documentation to the Student Health Center may result in dismissal from SUNY Morrisville.



Records may be located at last college or high school attended or at family doctor's office.

Summary of Proof of Immunity to Measles, Mumps and Rubella

Doses required of live virus vaccine: MMR recommended (first dose on or after first birthday)

  • Measles: Two doses at least 30 days apart

  • Mumps: One dose

  • Rubella: One dose

OR

  • Documentation of medically diagnosed disease for measles or mumps only!

OR

  • Serologic evidence of immunity for each disease: measles, mumps and rubella.

Meningitis

Effective January 1, 2017, NYS Public Health Law 2167 requires all colleges/universities to distribute information about meningococcal disease and vaccination.

According to this law, each new student is required to:

  • Provide proof of at least 1 dose of meningococcal ACWY vaccine or a complete 2- or 3-dose series of MenB within the last 5 years OR
  • Sign a waiver form refusing meningococcal vaccine

COVID-19 Vaccine Student Policy

All SUNY Morrisville students are strongly encouraged to stay up to date on their initial course of COVID vaccinations and boosters consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations.

While COVID vaccines are not required at this time, SUNY reserves the authority to change this policy at any time because of changes in local conditions or due to requirements imposed by Federal, State or local authorities.

Students enrolled in any academic program or course or who are participating in a clinical internship held at a third-party location must continue to comply with all health and safety guidelines, including any vaccination or testing protocols that are in place at the third-party location.
