Please find below SUNY Morrisville's current COVID-19 health and safety guidelines and policies, following recent guidance issued from the New York State Department of Health and the NYS Governor’s Office of Employee Relations.
SUNY Morrisville Mask Policy
In consultation with SUNY System, local and state health departments and college leadership, the universal indoor mask mandate has been lifted at SUNY Morrisville, effective March 2. However, masks are still required in some settings on campus. SUNY System requires that indoor masking continue to be required of students who are not fully vaccinated, including those who have been granted a medical or religious exemption or those who are now eligible for a booster and have not yet received one. Individual faculty and staff may also request that students continue to wear masks in their classrooms or offices. Masks also must be worn on MAX Shuttles.
SUNY Morrisville has followed the guidelines provided by SUNY System to remove the mask mandate, which included receiving approval from the Madison County Department of Health. If COVID-19 case numbers rise, we will work with our DOH partners to institute additional precautions and reconsider masking requirements.
Any faculty and staff who would like to order masks for their classrooms or offices can do so by submitting a facilities work order through their departments.
SUNY Morrisville COVID-19 Booster Student Policy (Effective Spring 2022 Semester)
Per New York State Gov. Hochul’s executive order, effective January 15, 2022, all State University of New York (SUNY) in-person students must receive a COVID-19 booster once eligible. Individuals are eligible for a booster: (1) five months after receiving the second dose in a two-dose (Pfizer or Moderna) COVID-19 vaccine series or (2) two months after receiving the single-dose (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine.

SUNY Morrisville COVID-19 Vaccine Student Policy (Effective Fall 2021 Semester)
As of August 23, 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted full approval to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. This means the SUNY requirement that all in-person students be vaccinated is now in effect. By Wednesday, Sept. 1, all students must receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or have completed and submitted a waiver application. Any vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) satisfies the vaccination policy.
Testing Requirements and Instructions for Ill Students
All students, regardless of vaccination status, should seek medical care if they are experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19, including:
- Fever or chills
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Muscle or body aches
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting

Cleaning / Hygiene:
Heightened cleaning and disinfecting protocols will be in place to the extent that can be accommodated with staffing levels. Hand sanitizer and refill stations will be located at all major building entry points.
What else should I do to protect myself and others?
- Practice frequent hand washing. Sanitizing stations also will be strategically located across campus, including residence halls.
- Cover your cough and sneeze in your sleeve/elbow.
- Stay home when sick.
