SUNY Morrisville Butcher Library provides access to a number of permanent and temporary Special Collections. Our Rare Books and Local History Collection contains a number of original first edition prints. These include but are not limited to: The life and times of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass, Tuskegee and its people by Booker T. Washington, Alice’s adventures in wonderland by Lewis Carroll, and The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Materials in this collection can be viewed upon request.
The library also houses a number of original works of arts, including paintings and prints by famous Central New York artist Lee Brown Coye. The works of Coye on permanent display include the following: Moby Dick (wood carving), Dust to dust (tempora on board), and two unnamed sculptures (library 2nd floor, iron on stone). During the year additional works are displayed on the library’s gallery wall.
