Three posted double figures for the Morrisville State College women’s basketball team on Wednesday night, but couldn’t get past visiting Wells College as they fell 55-46 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) competition.

With the loss, Morrisville State drops to 6-18 overall, 3-12 in conference play. Wells improves to 16-7, 11-3 in NEAC action.

Caitlynn Adams (Sherburne, N.Y.) posted a collegiate high 17 points and snagged 12 rebounds, while registering five steals to lead the Morrisville State efforts, as fellow teammate Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) added 16 points and had six assists.

The Mustangs didn’t have a solution to containing reigning NEAC Player of the Year Ashley Roser, who led the Express with 32 points and 17 rebounds for her 18th double-double of the year.

Morrisville State shocked the visitors with an early offensive burst, holding at one point an eight point advantage, before Wells was able to chip away and tie the contest at 17 with 6:49 to go in the opening frame.

The Mustangs went cold offensively for the remainder of the half, as the Express closed out the period with a 13-0 run for a 30-17 lead at the break.

Wells increased their lead to 18 early on in the second, but Morrisville State wouldn’t go away quietly, putting together a run of their own, 11-0, to make it an eight point game with 10 minutes remaining in the contest.

Roser dominated the paint for the Express for the rest of the contest, posting 12 of their 14 points, as the visitors collected the conference win.

Morrisville State returns to the floor for the final time in the 2013-14 campaign on Friday, hosting Gallaudet at 7 p.m.
