We have more information to share you with this evening, as students ask questions about returning to campus, either to retrieve their belongings before returning home or to continue living on campus for the remainder of the spring semester. We want to provide as much information as possible to help inform your decisions. Most importantly, please log in to Web for Students and complete the survey, please! This will help us accommodate your requests to return.

Can I remain on campus?

We are strongly encouraging all students who have other suitable housing options other than SUNY Morrisville to thoroughly consider leaving campus as soon as possible. Students with extenuating circumstances, such as international students or those who lack housing or food security elsewhere, or who do not have reliable access to the internet or accompanying technology, may choose to remain on campus. Students must fill out the “Student Plans After Spring Break” survey in Web for Students to remain on campus.

Can I return to living on campus?

Similarly, while we strongly encourage students who have other suitable housing options to remain in them, students who are currently off campus have the option to return if they meet the criteria to do so. These criteria include students without housing or food security elsewhere or those who do not have reliable access to the internet or accompanying technology. Students who wish to return to campus must fill out the “Student Plans After Spring Break” survey in Web for Students with the reason they are returning and date of their return.

When can I return to retrieve my belongings?

Students may return to campus to collect their belongings starting Thursday, March 19, from noon to 7 p.m. Retrieval will also be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Students will need to bring their swipe cards and keys to access the halls. Express checkout will be available by the Resident Assistants Office after students clear their rooms. While we intend to find additional times in the future for students to retrieve their belongings, the uncertain and shifting nature of the current situation prohibits us from committing to specifics yet.

What if I have belongings or materials in locations other than residence halls, such as auto shop or other labs?

Students who have belongings in academic buildings or other areas of campus will be able to collect those during the same timeslots that they can clear their residence halls. It will be helpful for students to contact their faculty and let them know of their plans.

When will my partial credit or refund be processed?

NOTE: Any potential partial credit or refund you might receive will not be impacted by your move-out time. The Office of Student Accounts will process partial credit or refunds by the end of the spring semester. Resident students and commuting students must indicate their housing intentions by submitting the “Student Plans After Spring Break” survey in Web for Students.

When and how can I return my books?

Textbooks are not required to be returned until May. However, the Campus Store is currently working on a process that will allow students to send back their rental materials at no additional charge. Please continue to monitor the Campus Store website and your Morrisville email for updated information.

What if I am not able to complete my internship?

Students should work with their faculty and site supervisor to make alternate arrangements for completion.

What will instruction be like on campus? Will I attend labs? Will classes take place in person for students who are on campus?

All courses this semester are moving to online/remote instruction, including labs where possible. Those labs that cannot be offered remotely will be rescheduled.

What will conditions be like on campus, should I choose to stay or return?

Most buildings will be locked and inaccessible. The library is closed. STUAC will be open only to access Mustang Alley to pick up takeout meals. Hours and the menu for meals will be limited. There will be no transportation available to leave campus for shopping or other errands. The Health Center will be open. Most offices are closed in compliance with New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo’s order for only essential employees to be on campus. There will be no student activities, club meetings or intramurals. All varsity sports have had their seasons canceled as well. Services such as tutoring will likely be delivered via remote means, such as video conferencing. We will do our best to support you during this difficult time and want to be sure you understand the parameters we are working within as you decide to return to campus this spring.

What “social distancing” requirements will be enforced on campus for the remainder of the semester?

Students will be expected to observe the rule of not congregating in groups larger than 10, and must maintain a distance of six feet as much as reasonably possible.

If I have received accommodations for testing, how will these services be administered?

Students should be communicating with their professors and indicate to each professor what their accommodation needs are and what will be needed to assist them.

What happens if faculty are not planning for alternate accommodations for students?

Students should report this to the Office of Accessibility Services immediately.

What will happen if I or another student living on campus is exposed to COVID-19, the coronavirus, while on campus?

Students will be evaluated if symptoms are present. Testing will be administered if necessary. Once a test is given, students will be moved to quarantine; if the test is positive they will be moved to isolation. The 14 days of isolation begins on the day of the positive test result.

What transportation options will be available to me to, from and on campus?

There is no on-campus MAC Transportation at this time.
